Benz IOL25UV is our patented hydrophilic material (US Patent No. 6,517,750) designed specifically for foldable or injectable IOLs. This copolymer of 2-Hydroxyethylmethacrylate and 2-Ethoxyethylmethacrylate has a unique combination of modulus of elasticity and tensile strength that allow a finished IOL to be drastically deformed during injection through openings as small as 1.2mm and return to its original shape and optical performance in the most desirable time frame. This material also has a history of very low PCO rates across many designs.
BenzFlex 26 is a generic material made from 2-Hydroxyethylmethacrylate and Methylmethacrylate. This material’s primary components are the same as other products available on the market. The main differences are that it is made with Benz ultra high purity monomer resulting in a low residual, zero ionicity polymer and our superior polymerization technology, which results in a smaller polymer matrix (pore size) and more precise expansion characteristics than competitor materials.
